Margie (Christenson) Canfield
Margie Christenson graduated from Mukwonago
High School in 1983. She participated in cross-country, gymnastics and track
during her four years at MHS. She earned 12 letters, four in each sport. She was
a member of the first girls’ cross-country team at Mukwonago High School and was
an all around gymnast who competed at the State tournament all four years.
Margie placed fifth in the vaulting competition in 1981. In track and field,
Margie competed in 100-yd hurdles, 300-yd hurdles, the mile relay and the high
jump in which she also placed fifth at the State meet.
Margie was captain and MVP for the three sports she competed
in as well as being selected Outstanding Senior Female Athlete at MHS in 1983.
Margie continued her gymnastic career at U.W. Stout. She then
returned to MHS as a Health teacher and gymnastics coach. She has been active as
a freshman class advisor, gymnastics coach, Wisconsin High School Gymnastics
Association member/President, National High School Gymnastics Coaches
Association member/Vice President and the Mukwonago Gymnastics Recreation Club.
Margie attributes her success to her family’s support
throughout her high school years and to her wonderful mentors/coaches/teachers
at MHS (specifically Harry Nordentoft) who fully support the athletic programs
and her involvement in them.
