Ken Horn
Ken Horn came to Mukwonago in 1937 as a
teacher of science, mathematics, and industrial arts. He also was a basketball
and football coach.
In 1945 he succeeded Evan Hill as principal of the then
Mukwonago Union High School. Ken was known as leader by example with very strong
moral character. Partially by the nature of being a principal at a union high
school and partially because of Ken’s leadership style, he was the “chief cook
and bottle washer” of Mukwonago High School. He was directly responsible for
staffing, finances, curriculum, and building and grounds issues. It was not
uncommon to find Ken after hours mopping the basketball floor or changing light
bulbs on the football/baseball field at Field Park.
Ken Horn was highly respected, admired, and appreciated by
those he served. If it needed to get done, Ken would do it!
