Julie (Hardke) Sugden
Class of '81

     Julie is a 1981 graduate of Mukwonago High School.  While at MHS she earned eight varsity letters (four each in gymnastics and track & field).  In her senior year she served as team captain in both gymnastics and track & field.  In 1981 she was awarded the DAHLE aware given to the senior female athlete who most exhibited the characteristics of leadership, attitude and dedication.

     Julie qualified for the state gymnastics meet three years and was sectional champion on the vault in 1980 and the uneven bars in 1981.

     In track Julie was a member of the second place 440-relay team at the 1979 conference meet and the first place 880-relay team in 1980.

     Julie went on to participate in gymnastics at UW-Eau Claire from 1981-1985.  She was named to the WWIAC All Conference team all four years and the NAIA All District team three years.  In 1985 she was named All-American on beam, vault and all-around.  Julie was named team MVP for three years and most inspirational and hardest worker during her senior year.

     In 1994, Julie was inducted into the UW-Eau Claire Athletic Hall of Fame.  She graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in nursing in 1985 and went on to earn a masters degree in nursing from Marquette University in 1991.

     Julie continues to live in Mukwonago and currently works for the Medical College of Wisconsin in neurology coordinating drug studies in Alzheimer’s research.

     Julie Sugden (Hardtke) certainly left her mark at MHS.
