Jon Dahle

Jon Dahle joined the teaching staff of, what was then, Mukwonago Union High School in the fall of 1955. He was hired to teach science, and would continue to teach in the Mukwonago School District for 23 years.

In the spring of 1956, he began to build and develop the track and field program at MUHS. During Jon’s tenure as head track coach his teams would go on to win six division championships, five conference titles and the state track and field championship in 1962.

As a strict disciplinarian, Jon was a proponent of the “old school” style of coaching – a method that seemed to work, as Jon led the 1966 cross-country team to a second place finish in the state championship, and to a first place finish the following year.

Jon became the Athletic Director of Mukwonago High School in 1972. A position he held until his retirement in 1978.

In addition to track and cross-country, Jon also coached football during his stay at MHS and was a strong supporter of the Women’s Athletic Program. The “DAHLE” award is presented annually to the senior female athlete who most displays the assets of Dedication, Attitude, Honor, Leadership and Effort and is named after Jon.

Throughout his career and into retirement Jon was a stanch supporter of UW-Whitewater “Warhawk” athletics.
