Gerald Asmann
Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director
Gerry Asmann came to Mukwonago in the fall of 1961 as a social studies and physical education teacher. Eventually he became a full time physical education instructor. Throughout his teaching career he coached basketball, baseball, and football at the high school and basketball, gymnastics, and track & field at Park View Middle School.
In 1977 Gerry replaced the retiring athletic director Jon Dahle, and served as the district activities coordinator until he retired in 1995.
During Gerry’s tenure as athletic director he is credited with developing many new sports programs, as this was a time when Mukwonago was growing and girls sports were emerging. He also is credited with overseeing the development and construction of both indoor and outdoor sports facilities at the high school.
Gerry’s peers remember him as a caring, ethical and approachable person.
He is presently enjoying retirement with his wife of 45 years, Maggie, and his children and grandchildren while staying busy doing part-time work in the area of employee benefits communication.
Gerry certainly left his mark at MHS.
