Donald Rintelman

Donald (Skip) Rintelman, was a four-year letterman in three varsity sports: baseball (outfielder), basketball (guard) and football (running back as a freshman and sophomore / quarter back in his junior and senior years).

In the Mukwonago High School 1950 – 1951 sports season, Skip’s senior year, all three “Indian” teams he played on won their conference championships. As stated in the 1951 M.H.S. Arrow, the football team “was one of the best Mukwonago has ever had”. The squad went undefeated, breaking all school records. The basketball team won sixteen out of twenty games; noteworthy are the total points for M.H.S. were 1035 while those of their opponents only 782. The baseball team was also successful winning victories over all teams in their conference.

Skip’s competitive spirit, focus on detail and natural athleticism were awarded with a football scholarship to Ripon College. His strong belief in higher education lead to a masters degree in Special Education.

Exchanging a player’s uniform for a coach’s clipboard in his local community, Skip’s coaching career spanned 10+ years and all age groups in both baseball and basketball. Proudly, all Skip’s teams achieved tournament status, with his Connie Mac baseball team of 1986 winning the Connecticut State Championship and New England Regional Honors.

It is with fond remembrance and pride that Skip looks back on the four years of his life that belong in part to Mukwonago High School and their athletics program.
