David Williams
David Williams was an ’84 graduate of MHS and
had the privilege to quarterback the Indians his junior and senior year while
the Indians amassed a record of 19-2, including 11 straight wins his senior year
losing a heartbreaker to port Washington (9-7) on an end of game field goal, in
the state semi-final game. During his two-year tenure at quarterback he received
many honors such as All-Conference, All-Area, Honorable Mention All-State, and
Waukesha Freeman Co-Player of the Year and participated in the Wisconsin
North-South Shrine game. But his most memorable high school honor was being
named his team’s MVP since there were so many great players on those squads.
David went on to the University of Minnesota as a walk-on and
made the team as a strong safety earning a scholarship as a sophomore. He earned
three letters and had the great fortune of playing against some great Big Ten
teams and played in two Bowl games under legendary Coach Lou Holtz.
David attributes his success in college and beyond to his
high school experience at Mukwonago, in particular his participation in a
top-notch football program led by Coach Keith Hensler. We learned such
attributes as teamwork, discipline, winning attitude and how to believe in
yourself and each other. “It’s a privilege and an honor to be inducted into the
inaugural class of the MHS Hall of Fame.”
