Carl A Holtz
Distinguished Service

Carl was born and raised in the city of Milwaukee.  He attended UW-Madison from 1940-42, enlisted in the Army Air corps, and flew 48 missions as the navigator of both B-17’s and B-24’s over the European Theater.  After W.W.II he returned to Madison and was an All-American stroke for UW’s crew.  In 1977 he was inducted into the National Rowing Foundation.  In 1999 he was inducted in the UW Athletic Hall of Fame.

Carl and his wife Jean purchased their farm in the town of Mukwonago in 1957.  They raised five children who all attended MHS.  He was the official starter for the inaugural girls track team at MHS in 1968.  Carl was a fixture on the sideline of MHS football for 40 years as a member of the chain gang.

Carl rarely missed the numerous events his five grandchildren participated in.  Carl was truly very proud and honored to serve his community.
