Bill Schmitz
Class of 1987

   

            Bill Schmitz graduated from Mukwonago High School in 1987.  While at Mukwonago he earned eight varsity letters in ten seasons of participation; football (3), wrestling (1), and track and field (4).  This earned him the Indian Award.

             In football Bill was the team captain and the quarterback.  He was all conference honorable mention, and was awarded the Rip Rintelman award for being the most dedicated player.  Bill also set the school record for career completion percentage, which still stands today.

             His track and field career saw Bill participating in many events over his four years on varsity.  These included the long jump, triple jump, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and all of the entire sprint relays.  Bill’s senior season he was voted the team captain.  As a junior Bill went to the State meet as part of the 4x400m relay.  As a senior he went to Sectionals in the 200m, and went to State in the 4x400m relay and the 4x100m relay.

             Bill went on to attend UW-River Falls where he played one year of football, and lettered in track and field as a freshman.  He currently lives in Mukwonago with his wife Kelly, and his two sons Brett and Aaron.  Bill currently coaches the Mukwonago Braves 8th grade football, as well as the Mukwonago Mustangs U9 baseball team.  He would like to thank coaches Furlong, Hensler, Hoagland, Ackerman, Tietjen, Cottrell, and Lammers for helping to mold him.
