
Earl Wiehl
Class of 1951
Earl lived in Muskego and came to Mukwonago High School
as a sophomore and graduated from
Mukwonago
High School in 1951.
He earned seven letters in three sports: football,
basketball and baseball. During his
senior year of football the team was undefeated conference champs.
Earl was elected as team captain in both his junior and senior years.
Letters were won in basketball during Earl’s junior and senior years while
playing on a conference championship team as a senior.
Three letters came via playing on the MHS baseball team where a
conference championship was won his senior year.
As a senior, a “make shift” track team was assembled and practiced after
baseball. The relay team qualified
and participated in the State track meet held in
Camp Randall at UW-Madison.
His junior and senior year, Earl was a member and officer of the first
Letterman’s Club at MHS called the M-Club, which is still an active group today.
After serving in the army, Earl attended and graduated from the UW-LaCrosse in
1959 with a PE major and biology minor.
He earned four letters playing on the UW-L baseball team.
Earl taught and coached football, basketball, track, golf and was athletic
director at Jefferson High School.
A coaching highlight was winning six consecutive golf championships and
reaching the State tournament four times.
Currently Earl lives in Sun Prairie, WI with his high school sweetheart Phyllis
(Martin), whom he has been married to for 50 years.
They have four children, eight grandchildren, and four great
grandchildren.
