Patti Wappenschmidt (Meints)
Class of 1980

          Patti is a 1980 graduate of MHS where she earned seven varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, and softball. 

In basketball Patti was moved up to varsity her sophomore year to participate in the state tournament.  She joined the volleyball team her junior year, lettered and as a senior was named team MVP.

          Patti played first base the first three years of existence for the softball team.  Her senior year she was named co-captain, batted over 600 and was selected First Team All-Conference.

          As a senior Patti received the school’s Dahle award for Dedication, Attitude, Honor, Leadership, and Effort.

          Patti went on to MATC (Milwaukee).  She helped the girls’ volleyball team there win a conference championship, being named to the All-Conference team and All-Tournament team.  She also played basketball at MATC graduating with a degree in cosmetology.  After 10 years in cosmetology Patti changed her career direction becoming the first female professional firefighter in Waukesha County.  She was the first woman to pass the grueling physical agility tests.

          Patti met and married a fellow City of Waukesha firefighter, Brett Meints.  They now reside with their two children in Waukesha.  Patti is now a stay at home mom but continues her exercise program practicing zumba, NIA, and Arabic tribal dance.
