Craig Vertz
Class of 1983
Craig Vertz is being inducted into the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame for his distinguished service to the athletic program. Craig graduated from MHS in 1983 where he lettered three times, football (2), basketball (1). Beyond his high school days is when Craig’s impact is really felt.
The Mukwonago “Braves” youth football club will be celebrating their 25th year the fall of ’08. The relationship between the Mukwonago High School program and the independent youth program has been nothing short of outstanding. The two organizations mutually support each other in all aspects. The guiding force that makes all of this work is Craig Vertz. Craig has been with the “Braves” since its beginning, first as a coach and board member and for the past 15 years as a coach as well as the organization’s “CEO”.
Never has Craig accepted any money for all that he does. But when it comes to getting things done, no matter how much effort or cost, one call to Craig Vertz is all it takes. He has the unique ability to mobilize a work force of skilled and energetic people as well as generate funds. Evidence of how the community appreciates Craig, a life-long resident of Mukwonago, is documented in the New Year’s edition of our local newspaper where he was acknowledged as one of “The Five”. They acknowledged five in our community who have big hearts and limitless energy. The impact that Craig has had on literally thousands of young people is so impressive.
Craig is a devoted husband and father. Ironically, he met his wife Keri while taking the ASEP coaching class years ago! He has two lovely children, Matthew and Mackenzie.2008 INDUCTEE
