Bob Muren
Class of '66

Bob Muren is a 1966 graduate of MHS.  While at MHS, he earned eight varsity letters in football, basketball and golf.  Unfortunately, a shoulder injury kept him out of football during his senior year.  In basketball, Bob earned three varsity letters, was a team co-captain and was selected as both an All-Conference and All-County player.  In his junior year the basketball team won the Southern Lakes Conference championship.

In golf, Bob was a team captain and placed third in the conference championship his junior year.  Bob wants to extend a special thanks to his coaches, Don Enright, Jerry Bethke and especially, Jerry Swan for their guidance during his high school career.

Outside of athletics during his high school years, Bob was on prom court, was homecoming king and was president of the sophomore class and the student council.  Following high school, Bob accepted an appointment to the US Coast Guard Academy but was forced to turn down the appointment due to a recurring shoulder problem.  He subsequently graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1970 and then Marquette University Law School in 1973.

Bob has continued his love for golf not only by playing the game but also by administering it.  In 2004 he won the Milwaukee District Senior Match Play Championship.  He is the immediate past president of the Wisconsin State Golf Association and currently serves as the President of the Wisconsin State Golf Association Foundation.  He also serves as a director for the Wisconsin section of the Professional Golfers Association of America.  In connection with his active practice of law, Bob has had an opportunity to give something back to athletics.  Bob performed all of the legal work on a pro bono basis to establish the Classic Eight Conference as well as the Booster Club at Waukesha West High School where his son, Rob, won eleven varsity letters in basketball, soccer and tennis and was named most valuable male athlete in 1995.  Bob’s daughter, Shawna, won four varsity letters at Waukesha North.  Bob also serves on the Board of Trustees for the UW- Whitewater Foundation and the Marquette University Law School Advisory Board.  Bob married his high school sweetheart, Charlene, and they currently reside in North Prairie.  They have two children, Shawna and Rob, as well as four grandchildren.
