Rod Vick
Class of '73 and Coach

        From prep conference champ to state champion coach, rod Vick is proud to have represented his home town.

        Captain in cross country and wrestling, Vick lost only four conference matches in three years, earning the 1972 Southern Lakes conference 112-lb. title.  Vick lettered for nationally ranked UW-Whitewater, placing third in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Championships, third in the State AAU Freestyle Championships (twice).  A 1984 Boston Marathon qualifier (2:45 best) and cross country ski racer, Vick also coached wrestling, track, youth softball and cross country ski club.

        As cross country coach for 23 years, Vick guided MHS to 14 team appearances at state, highlighted by the 1994 Girls State Championship.  Voted District (twice) and State Coach of the Year (’94), his tams won 192 invitationals, titles in three different conferences, and placed in the top two at sectionals 17 times.  He credits his dedicated athletes as well as his coaching staff - - good friends Ted Bachhuber, Rick Colbo, Bruce Lammers and Jayne O’Malley-- for these successes.

         Rod Vick lives in Mukwonago with his lovely wife Marsha, and children Haley and Joshua.  He thanks his mother for teaching him perseverance and his father for never missing a high school wrestling match.
