Mike "Gunner" Wraalstad
Class of '65
Mike Wraalstad is a 1965 graduate of MHS. In football Mike played on the varsity team as a freshman, and lettered the next three years playing both ways on offense as the pulling guard, and on defense as a linebacker. He was All-Conference and co-captain his senior year.
In baseball he played four years lettering from his sophomore year as a catcher and infielder. In basketball he lettered his junior and senior years. It was as a freshmen that Mike was given his nickname “gunner” when he scored all but one point in a basketball game. His junior and senior year Mike wasn’t known for his scoring but for his tough defense. Mike was mainly brought in to guard the other teams’ high scorer. Mike was named All-County on defense and named co-captain of the 1964-65 MHS championship basketball team.
After graduation Mike attended UW-Milwaukee. In June 1966 Mike was drafted into the Army and served until June of 1968 coming out an E5-SQT.
Mike lives in Dousman, WI and has been involved in truck transportation for over 35 years. Mike is the fleet safety and general manager of WBC Corp./Spancrete of Waukesha Wisconsin. Some of the projects Mike has been involved with include: Lambeau Field – Green Bay, Solider Field – Chicago, IL, Miller Park – Milwaukee, Bradley Center – Milwaukee, Pettit National Ice Center – Milwaukee, Camp Randall Stadium – Madison, Kohl Center – Madison, Marquette interchange bridge and construction work – Milwaukee.
Mike married in 1970 (Karen) and has two sons, Brian (30), and Christian (18) and a daughter Kamara (27), and three grandsons Brady (4), Brandon (7 months), and Jacob (6 months).
