Mike Furlong
Coach
Mike Furlong has been a social studies teacher and coach for 35 years. He came to Mukwonago High School in 1979 after spending several years teaching and coaching at Zion Benton High School in Illinois.
Mike has coached football, basketball, cross country, and track and field at the high school over the years. Most notable is Mike’s track and field coaching where he has been the head boys’ coach for 26 years. During that time Mike has developed a program which is the envy of southeastern Wisconsin. Mukwonago track & field teams are renowned for both their competitive level and participation numbers.
During Mike’s tenure as track & field coach Mukwonago has had five state champion individuals in various events and in 1994 the team placed second in the state meet. His teams have also won 26 regional or sectional championships and numerous conference championships in all four of the conferences that he has competed in.
Mike lives in Oconomowoc with his wife of 23 years, Michelle and is the proud father of three children, Kristie, Allison, and E.J.
