George Porter
Class of '53
George Porter is a 1953 graduate of Mukwonago High School. While at Mukwonago he earned seven varsity letters (three in football and four in baseball).
George played four years on the varsity football team from 1949–1952, the Indians lost only three games in those years. The years 1951 and 1952 were two straight unbeaten seasons. George was a halfback and was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference selection.
He was on the varsity baseball team and lettered four years (captain of the 1953 team) while playing shortstop and third baseman for the Indians. In his senior year George was named Athlete of the Year at MHS.
George has two sons, Dennis and Mark, that played football and were involved in other sports. Dennis played on a championship team, the first since the championship team of 1952.
George states, “The lessons learned from being involved in team sports I have always applied to my everyday life, even now”.
George has resided in Mukwonago all his life. Married for 48 years, has three children, 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
George still remains a huge supporter of MHS athletics. “I am especially proud of our boys State Football Champions. To have witnessed this football season, is a time I will never forget”.
