Deb continued her running career as a Rainbow Wahine at the University of Hawaii – Manoa on their Division one cross-country team.
Deb and her husband, Guy, volunteered in the Peace Corps in Fiji from 1995 – 1997 as Management Planning Advisors for the Ministry of Regional Development. In Fiji, she started a women’s running club, taught Junior Achievement Economics programs at elementary and secondary school levels and managed the construction of a kindergarten classroom.
Deb attributes her success to her fabulous MHS coaches, Rod Vick, Rick Colbo, Ralph Smedema and Ted Bachhuber. She also thanks her biggest fan and source of encouragement, her father, Gordon Kirchhoff. He was always there to cheer her on.
